Shein and Temu are popular in the United States, but eBay still holds the position

It is learned that recently, Modern Retail in the United States cooperated with Attest to conduct a survey of 1,000 American consumers to understand the most popular shopping platforms in the United States besides Amazon. The survey shows that although Shein and Temu have soared in popularity in the United States, old e-commerce giants such as eBay still have a stable customer base.

When asked about their shopping on platforms other than Amazon in the past six months, the largest number of respondents reportedly said eBay, with 32% of respondents saying they had used eBay in the past six months; Shein ranked second, accounting for 21%; and Temu ranked third, accounting for 17%.

But in the survey results of young people, Shein is the most popular shopping platform. Currently, Shein is expanding its scale by continuously raising more funds. Recently, Shein announced that it had raised $2 billion in financing, with a valuation of $66 billion, although it has dropped by nearly one-third from its peak.

In addition, Shein has launched a third-party platform model in the United States to attract more suppliers to join. It is reported that Shein plans to launch a resale platform in the second half of this year.

Temu has grown steadily through a large-scale and focused PR campaign. According to data from data analysis company Sensor Tower, Temu is currently the second most downloaded app after OpenAI's ChatGPT, while Shein ranks 12th.

The survey showed that Shein was the most popular app among nearly 400 respondents aged 16 to 25. 35% said they had used Shein in the past six months, while only 25% said they had used eBay. Temu ranked third, accounting for 16%.

Overall, emerging overseas e-commerce platforms are rising in the US market and attracting a large number of consumers. However, some established platforms still show a solid position.
