Walmart will open two data centers and recruit more than 5,000 technicians!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Walmart recently announced that it will open two data centers in Toronto and Atlanta respectively, and plans to recruit more than 5,000 technical employees worldwide in fiscal 2022.

Walmart said it plans to make Toronto one of its major global technology centers and will hire hundreds of technicians for the center in 2022. In the first phase, Walmart will recruit 45 full-time employees for positions such as software developers, product managers, and technical program managers.

In addition to opening a tech centre in Toronto, Walmart plans to strengthen its local footprint by investing $1 billion in technology and other areas, such as renovating physical stores.

It is reported that Walmart's data center in Atlanta will recruit 140 full-time employees in the first recruitment phase, including data scientists and software engineers. Walmart has already released a recruitment notice and plans to announce more positions in the coming months.

Walmart said that Walmart Technology is its fastest growing corporate team. The technologies developed and managed by the department include cloud computing, data, enterprise architecture, development operations, infrastructure and security, as well as providing corporate services to Walmart employees. The new technology center will help Walmart optimize the platform shopping functions, consumer shopping experience, and establish connections with diverse talents.

It is understood that the addition of Toronto and Atlanta data centers will increase the number of Walmart's global data centers to 16, including Silicon Valley, Northwest Arkansas, Dallas and India.

It is worth noting that Walmart's technology center currently has more than 20,000 employees. This year, Walmart's recruitment of technical personnel will focus on positions such as cybersecurity experts, architects, developers, software engineers, data scientists, data engineers, technical project managers and product managers.
