Walmart and Duo Bank of Canada announced on Wednesday the launch of the Walmart Rewards Mastercard buy now, pay later service, providing Canadian consumers with a BNPL payment option.
Through the program, customers can pay for purchases of $199.99 or more at Walmart in six installments to the Walmart Rewards Mastercard. In addition, Walmart and Duo Bank, which issues the Rewards Mastercard, will waive the 2.5% account opening fee.
Walmart Rewards Mastercard transactions total nearly 400 million Canadian dollars (about 317 million U.S. dollars) since the service was launched.
Walmart said it will continue to expand its financial services offerings to provide Canadian consumers with more flexible payment options and support the continued growth of everyday shopping needs.
