Amazon expands super-fast delivery service to four new cities in the US

The service initially launched in Philadelphia, Phoenix, Orlando, and Dallas in the United States in 2020, and later expanded to Nashville and Washington, D.C.

In order to complete the ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon has specially built a small distribution center with an area of ​​100,000 square feet, which is 1/10 the size of a traditional distribution center. The company said that they can achieve this goal by storing the items needed today in a new facility closer to customers, and the existence of a small distribution center is the best choice for completing this new service in terms of cost and efficiency.

Amazon said the fast delivery service is also environmentally sustainable because products are closer to customers, which greatly reduces the logistics delivery process. In addition, the company has been building infrastructure for its proprietary air delivery service (Amazon Air) to complete faster same-day delivery services.

It is reported that Amazon Air has expanded its operations in the United States to more than 40 locations and launched a European air hub at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany in 2020. In August 2021, Amazon also opened a central air hub for US Prime express at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
