What is eBay Authenticate? eBay Authenticate Review

eBay Authenticate is a service officially launched by eBay in October 2017, which aims to help buyers provide luxury goods authentication services to prevent counterfeits. The service has now been expanded to the luxury watch category.

About eBay Authenticate

The service will allow sellers to list luxury handbags and wallets valued at more than $500 and then receive 80 percent of the final sale price. eBay offers a higher commission than The Real Real, which uses a tiered structure where items priced $1,500 and below have a 55 percent commission and only fine watches have commissions above 80 percent.

Create a process

1. Start by creating a listing for your product.

2. Send it using a prepaid USPS shipping label, or drop it off at a participating FedEx location and they will pack it and ship it to the expert for free.

3. Independent experts authenticate your buyers, list, sell and ship handbags.

4. You will get paid when the handbags are sold.

How it works

eBay Authenticate will be supported by a team of professional authenticators and will be available to both buyers and sellers. Sellers who sell certain categories of items on eBay, including high-end handbags, will have the option to join the paid authentication program when listing their items. If they join the authentication program, their listing will be marked with information indicating that the item will be evaluated by a professional authenticator before it reaches the buyer. If the item is sold, the professional authenticator will check whether the item is authentic. Only if the item passes the review will it be sent to the buyer. To further promote consumer trust in the program, if a buyer receives an approved item and finds that it is a fake, eBay will compensate the customer twice the purchase price of the item. For certain categories, buyers can also pay for the authentication service for listings that the seller does not use.

benefit

For buyers, the eBay Selected Products program can increase their confidence and allow them to shop with greater assurance. For sellers, this service is particularly beneficial for those who want to find a market for their high-end products but have a short selling history on eBay. For our veteran sellers, this service may not make a big difference because they are likely to already have a good reputation. Of course, eBay Selected Products is open to all sellers.

Included brands

Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, Gucci, Céline, Fendi, Dior, Prada, Goyard, Balenciaga, Valentino, Burberry, Chloé, Bottega VenETA and Saint Laurent, etc.

develop

-For a limited time ending January 31, 2018, eBay's service will accept items valued at $250 and above and give sellers 90% of the final selling price.

-In 2018, eBay announced the expansion of the eBay Authenticate category to luxury watches, providing consumers with thousands of high-end watches that are certified by professional authentication agencies.

-In September 2018, eBay’s brand authentication program, eBay Authenticate, was officially launched in Germany.
