The United States extends tariff exemptions for some Chinese products! These categories will benefit

It is learned that on May 27, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced that they would continue to extend the tariff exemption for Chinese medical protective products, involving the exclusion HTS identification code 9903.88.66.

These products were first included in the 301 tariff exemption list by USTR in December 2020, and the tariff exemption was extended after some products on the list were revised in November 2021. The exemption was originally scheduled to expire on May 31, 2022, and the exemption period will now be extended to November 30, 2022.

The USTR import tariff exemption reportedly covers 81 medical products needed to respond to the epidemic, most of which are disposable medical devices or machine parts used to treat patients, including pump bottles for hand sanitizer, plastic containers for disinfectant wipes, fingertip pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, MRI machines and X-ray tables, etc.

With inflation in the United States at its highest level in more than 40 years, President Biden is under pressure to remove some or all tariffs on Chinese goods, many of which are set to expire in July.

On March 23, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) issued a statement announcing the re-exemption of tariffs on 352 items imported from China. The new regulations will apply to goods imported from China between October 12, 2021 and December 31, 2022.
