46% of American consumers prefer mobile shopping! Generation Z accounts for the highest proportion!

According to the latest report from payment company Klarna, 68% of American consumers now use mobile phones to shop more often than in 2019. In the past 12 months, 8 out of 10 people have used mobile phones to shop online. Among them, Generation Z (79%) and Millennials (77%) have the highest proportion.

According to a survey by Klarna, 46% of American consumers prefer to shop via mobile phones, while 41% prefer desktop computers. In addition, consumers who use mobile phones to shop also like to search for products and compare prices on multiple websites.

Nearly all (94%) U.S. consumers now have a shopping app installed on their phone, with 82% using 1 to 5 apps per week and 72% using just one app.

The report shows that virtual cards, or electronic cards, are becoming a popular online shopping payment method. In the United States, the proportion of virtual card payments is as high as 37%, and the penetration rate of virtual cards ranks second in the world. Among them, millennials (81%) like this payment method the most.

Mobile devices also play a big role when shopping in physical stores, with 68% of consumers using their phones to research products in the three categories of electronics (85%), entertainment devices (79%), and apparel and footwear (78%).
