Amazon will hire 150,000 employees to cope with the holiday shopping season! Second recruitment in one month!

Amazon said on Monday that it will hire 150,000 seasonal employees in the United States to cope with the holiday shopping peak. This number of recruitments has increased significantly compared to last year, when Amazon only hired 100,000 people at this time last year.

It is reported that the average starting salary for these positions is $18 per hour, and they are responsible for loading, picking, packaging, and transportation in Amazon's distribution network. In addition, the company also offers a $3,000 signing bonus in some areas, as well as an additional salary of $3 per hour.

At the same time, this is the second time the company has expanded seasonal positions in a month. In September, the company announced that it would hire 125,000 permanent and seasonal jobs. This shows that despite the large-scale hiring last month, the labor gap is still large.

The company has been hiring like crazy since the outbreak, bringing on 500,000 employees in 2020. Amazon has introduced incentives such as signing bonuses and free college tuition as it faces a tightening labor market. Other companies, including rivals Walmart and Target, have also boosted their benefits packages to attract talent.

Amazon Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky revealed after releasing the second-quarter earnings report that the highly competitive labor market is leading to rising costs.
