What is BSR (Best Sellers Ranking)? BSR (Best Sellers Ranking) Evaluation

Amazon Bestsellers Rank (BSR for short) is the ranking of Amazon's best-selling products. BSR is a product ranking method on Amazon. By dragging the slider down on the product page, you can see the BSR and ranking numbers, which are the real-time rankings of products in a certain category.

Factors Affecting BSR

1. Sales volume within a certain period of time;

2. The product’s sales history on Amazon;

3. The impact of other products in this category.

4. Product relevance: Amazon's system will identify the relevance between the listing and the user's search keywords based on the category, title, five-line features, product description, Search Terms keywords, etc. of the listing details page. Products with high relevance will be prioritized;

5. Conversion rate: refers to the number of orders converted to purchases when the number of visitors is fixed. For example, if 5 out of 100 visitors make a purchase, the conversion rate is 5%, while if only 1 out of 100 visitors makes a purchase, the conversion rate is only 1%. Therefore, when ranking keywords, a listing with a conversion rate of 5% will be given priority over a listing with a conversion rate of 1%. From the perspective of conversion rate, it does not mean that more traffic means better results.

6. Satisfaction: The most direct reflection is the review star rating and quantity. If a listing has a higher review star rating and a greater number of reviews, generally speaking, the keyword ranking will be higher.

The significance of Amazon BSR data

1. Careful product selection

You can quickly find the best-selling products in a certain category based on the sales volume of the products in that category, then use keywords to search for similar products, exclude products with high frequency in the top 100 of the category, and filter out potential products with high rankings in the sub-category and less competition. Finally, compare them with competing products, look for product highlights, and develop niche products that are unique and meet market demand.

2. Monitor your competitors

We can conduct a comprehensive analysis of competitors. Keeping an eye on the dynamics of competing products is a very important part of operations. Monitoring the sales, prices, products, listing updates and other information of competing products can help us respond quickly, formulate targeted operation strategies in a timely and efficient manner, and always maintain the advantages of our own products.

3. Track product sales changes

Knowing the changes in product sales helps to comprehensively evaluate the sales performance of your own products. By analyzing the changing trends of recent and historical product sales data through multiple dimensions (such as price, comments, BSR, etc.), you can quickly find and analyze the reasons for the changes in sales, trace the root causes and grasp the overall development trend of the product.

4. Track category and industry changes

Amazon captures the top 100 products in the same category for sellers to understand the product updates and industry trends in that category. With this kind of data, you can not only quickly view the product categories with the fastest sales growth, but also discover the most potential new products in the same category based on past best-sellers.

How to cleverly use BSR to increase sales?

In fact, BSR is a very conditional concept, because the ranking is constantly updated. Most of the time, you only need to do two things:

1. Choose a Niche Market

According to Amazon's algorithm, BSR is estimated based on the categories and subcategories of products sold. Analyzing BSR helps choose the right niche. BSR represents the success of a product in this market. But be careful of seasonal products - some products rank high in winter, but no one cares about them in summer (such as Christmas sweaters).

2. Analyze your competitors

After choosing a niche, it’s time to start analyzing your competitors. Study their listings, reviews, and make sure you have superior features that can surpass them. In the process, you will also understand how to improve your product.
