By 2006 , India's retail ecosystem had begun to shift from offline to online. In 2010 , the company founded Askme.com , a classified information portal .

In 2010 , Getit Infoservices Group established Askme.com , a classified information portal that specializes in collecting business information in cities across India.

In 2012 , AskMe established the e-commerce platform Askmebazaar , covering a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises.

In 2013 , Getit Infoservices was acquired by Astro Holdings, a company owned by a Malaysian billionaire .

AskMe started defaulting on payments as early as November and December 2015, but Gupta assured them that everything was normal and the arrears were temporary and there was no need to worry too much.

In April 2016 , Indian financial daily Business Standard reported that 650 employees from Askme 's 40 offices had been laid off.

In August 2016 , AskMe ceased operations.
