The protagonist of the story, Amy Miraflor, quit her job at school and became a full-time mother. As the family budget became tight, Miraflor felt uneasy. She found that most of the full-time mothers around her had to rely on mending clothes to save money. The next day, Miraflor borrowed a sewing machine from her grandmother and learned how to sew. But she also did one more thing: she opened a blog to show the hoodies she embroidered for family members.

Miraflor then used Shopify to build a professional e-commerce website and named it Evy's Tree. Evy is the abbreviation of her second daughter's name Evelyn.
