The total value of foreign trade exceeded 43 trillion for the first time, and cross-border e-commerce has become a new growth point!

According to the General Administration of Customs, in 2024, my country's total foreign trade import and export value exceeded 43 trillion yuan for the first time, reaching 43.85 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5%, maintaining its position as the world's largest trading country in goods for the eighth consecutive year.

Specifically, in 2024, my country's export scale exceeded 25 trillion yuan for the first time, reaching 25.45 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.1%, and achieved growth for eight consecutive years. Among them, the export of mechanical and electrical products increased by 8.7%, accounting for 59.4% of the total export value. This data shows that my country's export product structure is continuously being optimized and upgraded.

At the same time, the scale of imports also reached 18.39 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%. Although the growth rate was slightly lower than that of exports, my country still maintained its position as the world's second largest importer.

It is worth mentioning that the scale of cross-border e-commerce imports and exports reached 2.63 trillion yuan, an increase of more than 10% year-on-year, becoming a new highlight of foreign trade growth.

It is reported that in 2024, the General Administration of Customs will promote the quality and quantity of foreign trade through a series of measures. Throughout the year, it issued and implemented 16 measures to further optimize the business environment at ports and facilitate customs clearance for enterprises; implemented tariff concessions and various tax preferences, and exempted a total of 282.9 billion yuan in tax refunds; carried out special actions to promote cross-border trade facilitation in 20 cities, and 29 reform and innovation measures have been replicated and promoted nationwide.

In addition, my country has allowed 111 kinds of agricultural and food products from 62 countries and regions to be imported into China, promoted the opening and expansion of 14 ports, and established 7 new bonded logistics centers.

Sun Meijun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the General Administration of Customs, said that in 2025, customs across the country will continue to focus on promoting high-quality development and high-level opening up, and promptly introduce precise and high-value support measures to help companies stabilize orders, expand markets, strengthen supervision and optimize services.
