Walmart customers' holiday shopping plans: Nearly 60% make purchases in advance, with price being the primary factor

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, a recent consumer survey released by Walmart revealed customers' holiday shopping plans and consumption preferences this year.

According to a survey by Walmart Data Ventures, a customer data department under Walmart, 48% of Walmart customers plan to set a specific budget for each person on the gift list and hope to keep the overall spending within a reasonable range. Specifically, 31% plan to spend between $300 and $599, 22% set the budget between $600 and $999, 19% set the budget between $1,000 and $1,999, and a smaller number of budgets are less than $300 (14%).

When it comes to gift selection, Walmart customers show concern for price and practicality. In the survey, 43% of people said they prefer lower-priced gift options, 22% prefer experience-based gifts, and 13% give priority to more expensive, lasting gifts. In addition, price is still the main factor in deciding to buy, with 86% of respondents considering price as an important consideration in gift selection.

The survey also found that nearly 60% (57%) of customers did not buy or browse holiday products in advance during the back-to-school season. However, many consumers still said that they would start holiday shopping in advance this year, with 58% planning to start four weeks or more in advance, 29% planning to start shopping one to two weeks in advance, and only 4% planning to start preparing one to six days before the holiday.

In addition, members of Walmart's paid subscription program Walmart+ are more inclined to purchase discounted items in advance, and 80% of members plan to use their exclusive early shopping rights to snap up this year's Black Friday sales.
