Your package may have been stolen by robbers! Amazon and Target have both been "robbed"!

According to foreign media reports, packages from Amazon, Target, UPS and FedEx have become the targets of theft by robbers in the United States. In recent months, railway thefts have increased sharply.

The robbers reportedly mainly targeted valuable items such as jewellery, laptops, designer bags, etc., leaving behind products that were difficult to resell or were priced low, mostly medical kits and toiletries.

According to AFP, the robbers would strike when the trucks were out of service, climb onto the containers, break the door locks and steal with impunity.

Recently, CBS photographer John Schreiber posted a video on Twitter, which showed that one-fifth of the container on a truck was stolen by robbers, and the scene was in a mess.

It is reported that package thefts in the Los Angeles area have increased by 160% since December 2020. In the fourth quarter of 2021, more than 90 containers were damaged in the area every day. Among them, the number of thefts in October increased by 356% year-on-year, setting a record high. It can be said that Los Angeles has become a gathering place for robbers.

Union Pacific, one of the largest railway companies in the United States, said that it is infuriating that many criminals, when caught, are often downgraded to "misdemeanors" or "minor crimes" and are released in less than 24 hours after paying a certain fine, which is also the reason for the surge in the number of thefts.

Union Pacific further stated that as such cases increase, it may avoid continuing operations in Los Angeles in the future.

It is understood that since 2021, railway package theft has caused losses of nearly 5 million US dollars so far.
