What is Crunchbase? Crunchbase Review

Founded in San Francisco in 2007, Crunchbase is an enterprise service database company covering the ecosystem of startups and investment institutions. It is a startup database expressed in a Web 2.0 way, including founders, key employees, financial status, acquisition news and other important events. In addition, Crunchbase also contains information on well-known entrepreneurs and investors.

About Crunchbase

Initially owned by TechCrunch, it was later acquired by AOL. In 2015, Verizon acquired AOL, and Crunchbase received a $6.5 million investment from Emergence CAPItal in the same year, so Crunchbase separated from AOL. Crunchbase received another $2 million in financing in November 2015. In April 2017, Crunchbase announced on its official website that the company had completed a $18 million Series B financing round, with Mayfield Fund and its partner Rajeev Batra, Felicis Ventures, Cowboy Ventures, Emergence Capital Partners and AOL as investors in this round.

Crunchbase requires review of all changes to entries, and the review process for newly created pages takes approximately 24-48 hours. However, the website's disclaimer also states that it does not guarantee whether the information on the website is correct, and visitors must bear all risks or losses on their own.

One of Crunchbase's features is to obtain the number of company employees through the Linkedin API. However, this statistical method requires registering on the Linkedin website and filling in the correct personal data, so there may be serious errors with the actual number of employees.

Crunchbase also provides a simple API for other websites to call.

Product Introduction

In 2014, Crunchbase Pro, a paid enterprise service product, was launched.

In April 2017, Crunchbase launched the first product in its new product line, Crunchbase Enterprise, which provides a series of additional services for enterprise teams, including API access, Salesforce integration, Excel exports, and Crunchbase Pro seats.
