Walmart updates order cancellation policy! Sellers' delivery date is shortened from 6 days to 4 days!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Walmart recently stated in an email sent to sellers that it will shorten the automatic cancellation window from 6 days to 4 days. This policy will officially take effect on June 6, 2023.

This means that starting June 6, 2023, sellers must provide a valid tracking number and update the order to shipped status by the fourth calendar day after the estimated ship date (ESD), otherwise Walmart will cancel the order and refund the customer.

Walmart warns that if an order has not been shipped or tracking has not been updated after the 4th day of ESD, the order will be automatically canceled and will negatively impact the seller’s cancellation performance metrics.

To avoid having your order automatically canceled, Walmart recommends:

  • The seller updates the order to "shipped" status immediately after handing the package over to the carrier.

  • If the product is out of stock, the seller should take the initiative to cancel the order before ESD.

  • If the seller does not ship within the ESD, they can increase the delivery speed by choosing a faster package service to deliver the goods to the customer in a timely manner.

It is worth noting that this new policy only applies to orders shipped by sellers. Walmart said that one of the best ways to avoid automatic order cancellations is to join Walmart Logistics Service (WFS), which provides fast order delivery and can avoid package delays and poor customer service experience.

Additionally, for sellers who do not want to join WFS, they can use Walmart’s Performance Alarms to avoid automatic cancellations, which tracks order status and sends notifications to sellers to avoid cancellations and refunds.
