Etsy's buyer group portrait is released! Female buyers account for 75% of the total!

It is learned that according to Etsy's research, currently in the US and UK markets, a quarter of Etsy buyers are men. In addition, in 2021, men accounted for 35% of Etsy's new buyers. Male buyers are on the rise in the Etsy market.

Although male buyers are on the rise, they are still outnumbered by female buyers, who make up 75% of Etsy’s total buyers. Etsy’s female buyers have a wide age range, with 69% under 56 and 50% between 36 and 55 years old, and their annual income is around $75,000.

According to research, 10% of men and 30% of women in the United States have shopped on Etsy at least once in the past 12 months. Among them, about 35% of men and 56% of women have purchased two or more products.

Etsy found that the main reason why men and women don’t shop on Etsy is that they don’t understand or know the platform. They don’t even know what items are sold on the Etsy platform.

It was learned that female buyers like to buy products in categories such as knitting, crocheting, pottery, ceramics and jewelry on Etsy, while male buyers prefer to buy leather products, metal products and wood products.
