Demand increased by 15%! The US "disinfectant" buying boom will continue!

It is learned that according to Bloomberg, US consumers' demand for household cleaning products such as disinfectants increased by 15% in 2021 compared with 2019. This means that although the epidemic has eased, "daily disinfection work" has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

In the United States, the most frequently purchased disinfectant brands are reportedly Clorox Co., Reckitt Benckiser Group Plc and Procter & Gamble Co.

Procter & Gamble said that in the fourth quarter of 2021, sales of its home care division in the U.S. market still achieved single-digit growth. In addition, Clorox Co's cleaning products division saw revenue surge 23% in 2020 to $7.5 billion.

According to Euromonitor International, 5.5% of household disinfectants in the United States were out of stock at the end of 2021, down from 19% in 2019.

However, Andrea Teixeira, an analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co., said that although the epidemic has eased, consumer demand for disinfection products will remain at a high level.

According to a survey of 1,000 adults by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 83% of respondents said they would frequently use cleaning products such as hand sanitizer, liquid or spray disinfectants in the next six months.

Industry analyst Erin Lash said that as the prices of cleaning products and shipping costs continue to rise, consumers may turn to some low-priced private brands to purchase related products in the future.
