Etsy releases 4 tips to help sellers avoid supply chain crisis!

It is learned that Etsy recently issued a warning in its community about shortages in some supply chains and made four suggestions to sellers.

Etsy pointed out that consumers now consider supply chain issues more when shopping. Data shows that among 1,000 American respondents, 45% had never considered logistics and delivery time before the epidemic, but now as many as 91% will consider supply chain issues as an important consideration when purchasing.

Etsy also said that the shortage of masks caused by the 2020 outbreak proved that small sellers can fill the gap when physical stores and large retailers are unable to keep goods in sufficient supply. By the end of 2020, Etsy sellers had sold more than $740 million worth of masks.

Here are four tips from Etsy for sellers to help them avoid supply chain shortages during the holiday shopping season:

  • Leverage the marketing advantages of small sellers : In the current unpredictable supply chain environment, small sellers can adjust their positioning and marketing content to capture consumers who are turned away by large retailers.
  • Re-adjust inventory : Try to ensure that the store has a wider variety of products. This way, sellers can predict the hot-selling products in the first few weeks. It may cost a lot of stocking costs in the early stage, but this can help sellers avoid the peak period in advance during the crowded shopping season and save more trouble.
  • Stock up on packing supplies ahead of time: Make a list of the items you normally need for packing—paper towels, compostable mailers, shipping labels—and stock up now.
  • Only sell what’s available : No matter how much you try to prepare, supply chain issues can make it difficult for sellers to get the materials they need. Simply put, if you don’t have what you need to make something, don’t list it for sale.
