It is learned that according to the latest survey by the transaction discount platform Dealaid, American consumers are excited about the upcoming shopping season and are preparing to do a lot of shopping. 79% of consumers will buy products on Amazon.


According to the latest survey by Dealaid, a non-profit discount platform, 81% of respondents said they would continue to increase online shopping during the 2021 shopping season. On average, respondents plan to spend a total of $974 during the 2021 holiday shopping season, an increase of 4.7% year-on-year, of which $670 will be spent on online shopping and $374 will be spent on physical shopping. In addition, 55% of respondents said they would use mobile devices to make purchases, and 55% would shop in physical stores.


94% of respondents plan to shop online this peak shopping season, and 8 out of 10 respondents (79%) plan to spend a large amount of their budget on Amazon. Walmart.com ranks second with 6%, far ahead of other online retailers.


DealAid also looked at respondents' top concerns about peak season shopping, with 51% saying they were most concerned about the price of goods, followed by stock availability (45%), shipping time (41%) and availability of personal funds (31%).


According to Dealaid research, 14% of respondents plan to use buy now, pay later (BNPL) shopping during the 2021 shopping season, with an average spend of $279 per person, a 7% increase year-on-year. The most popular service provider is Affirm (64%), followed by Klarna (36%), Afterpay (33%) and PayPal Pay in four (21%).


Here are some other findings:

  • During the 2021 shopping season, 36% of respondents plan to buy online and pick up in-store or out-of-town.

  • 39% of consumers expect to do the majority of their holiday shopping throughout December 2021. This includes: Thanksgiving (27.5%), Black Friday (17.5%) and Cyber ​​Monday (10.8%).
  • In addition to Amazon, Target (34%) and Walmart (30%) are the most popular retailers, along with Costco (9%) and Kroger (7%).
  • 66% of in-store shoppers plan to use a credit card as their preferred payment method, while 49% plan to use a debit card. Three in 10 (29%) plan to use cash, while 7% will pay via a mobile app.
