Amazon launched a website on Friday to seek support from its sellers and fight antitrust laws proposed by the U.S. Congress, according to people familiar with the matter.
Sellers who register on the site will be able to receive updates on relevant legislation that may affect their business. In addition, sellers will have the opportunity to communicate directly with elected officials about these bills through the site.
The website was created just days after Amazon emailed sellers last week warning them about the bills, and a representative from Amazon's public policy team asked to schedule a call to discuss them.
Since the antitrust law was passed, many sellers have also been actively asking for information about these bills. An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement that they hope to help hundreds of thousands of third-party sellers on Amazon understand these legislative information and how they will affect their business development.
