Amazon Multi-Channel Logistics and Big Commerce Integration! Expanding Third-Party Delivery Business

Amazon Multi-Channel Logistics and Big Commerce Integration! Expanding Third-Party Delivery Business

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Amazon is currently providing multi-channel fulfillment (MCF) services to merchants on the Big Commerce platform. This move shows its growing interest in third-party delivery business and will compete with UPS and FedEx in the market.

It is reported that Big Commerce will integrate Amazon's multi-channel fulfillment (MCF) service into its platform, giving Big Commerce sellers the same service options as Amazon FBA service users. Big Commerce sellers will send goods to Amazon's operation center, and Amazon will provide one to five days delivery service.

“Amazon MCF will help merchants plan, source and fulfill efficiently,” said Sharon Gee, general manager of omnichannel at BigCommerce.

It is reported that Amazon's MCF service can facilitate suppliers to understand the delivery and transportation status at checkout for fast delivery. In addition, replacing Amazon's rates with flat fees or free shipping to pay for storage and fulfillment including picking, packaging and transportation costs, without the need for peak surcharges, will put pressure on logistics companies such as UPS and FedEx that have repeatedly raised surcharges.

“While MCF has yet to make a major splash in the market, it is attractive in a capacity-constrained market,” said John Haber, CEO of parcel logistics consulting firm Spend Management Experts. “The integration of MCF into the Big Commerce platform shows that Amazon is competing with large logistics providers such as UPS for third-party delivery business.”
