Red Points is a SaaS cloud platform for piracy and infringement monitoring. It mainly provides cloud-based solutions for enterprises to solve problems such as piracy and infringement. It was co-founded by Josep Coll, David Casellas and Laura Urquizu in 2014. The Red Points cloud solution system searches for counterfeit products (or pirated content) on the Internet on behalf of customers and automatically removes them.


Red Points currently has around 200 employees across offices in Barcelona and New York.


Red Points' customers are mainly distributed in vertical fields such as toys, fashion, accessories, sports, design and furniture.


Red Points Solution


Red Points’ products address three recurring challenges in e-commerce: counterfeiting, piracy, and non-compliance. To do this, they leverage computer vision algorithms to detect potential infringements on marketplaces and websites, as well as machine learning models for keyword comparisons, monitoring seller domains for unauthorized discounts, and checking linked sites, apps, social networks, and online third-party platforms for unauthorized web crawlers. When a potential counterfeit or non-compliant product listing is identified, customers are notified and can initiate an enforcement process, which involves alerting the seller online and issuing a removal request. Red Points’ online program offers a system with detailed rules for brands that prefer automation. The analytical web view (and API) displays real-time metrics such as the total number of detections and overall success rate. Thanks to AI, a Red Points spokesperson said it is able to generate personalized detection rules based on a customer’s execution history.


Red Points' unique position in the market is due to its technology. This technology consists of a keyword control system and image recognition technology that can identify a client's IP assets online, then find all similar assets, distinguish between legal and illegal cases, and detect all IP infringements. Coupled with the application of deep-learning technology, this online system will obtain the client's account history information and continuously update it, so that it can continuously remove new infringement threats, which is enough for customers to trust. In this way, companies can reduce sales losses, quality distortion, price erosion and brand dilution.


In some cases, Red Points' online solution can also automatically remove some enforcement procedures and locate the time interval between the detection of infringing content to 4.5 hours. In addition, Red Points can also feedback the intelligence data and analysis of the relevant infringing assets they find to the client.


Development History


-In 2014, Red Points was established.


-In September 2016, Red Points completed a $2.2 million Series A financing.


-In 2017, Red Points' annual sales increased by 350%, and the number of customers increased from 100 in 2016 to 300, with particularly significant growth in the United States and Europe.


-In January 2018, Red Points announced the completion of a $12 million Series B round led by Northzone, with participation from Sequoia and Sabadell Venture Capital.


-In February 2018, Red Points opened an office in New York.


-In April 2019, Red Points completed its Series C financing of US$38 million. Investors include Banco Sabadell, Eight Roads Ventures, and Mangrove.
