What is Trademe? Trademe Review
Trademe is New Zealand's largest online marketplace, with more than 3.1 million members and 1.4 billion page views per month. Its online car sales, real estate classifieds, and online hotel reservations are ranked first in the country. It was originally a second-hand auction market, a copy of eBay, but now it sells new products like the new eBay. Founded in 1999 Founder Sam Morgan Headquarters Wellington Website www.trademe.co.nz

Basic Introduction

Trademe was founded in 1999 and is currently the largest e-commerce platform in New Zealand. It was listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange and the Australian Stock Exchange in 2011, raising NZ$2 billion. Trade Me has 3.9 million users and 800,000 daily visits to its website. In 2015, Trade Me sold 6.6 million items, and was named the most influential brand in New Zealand in 2015.

The entire model of Trademe is a bit like China's Taobao, where basically everything is sold, except what you can't imagine. New Zealand itself is a developed country, so its consumption potential is still very large. Trade Me is now the largest e-commerce website in New Zealand, with a very high market position, customer base and credibility.

Hot selling categories

The most popular categories on Trade Me include toys, furniture products, electronic products, especially mobile phones, branded clothing, automobile, motorcycle and boat accessories. Among the toys, Lego toys are very popular in New Zealand. However, there are some things to note: TradeMe is limited to New Zealand and Australia for trading. Australian sellers need to have a New Zealand bank account. Some international sellers who meet the requirements of the platform are allowed to sell on TardeMe, but the platform prohibits the sale of Australian auto parts and real estate.

Trademe platform user habits

1. According to Trade Me statistics, people usually choose to browse Trade Me from 8pm to 10:30pm every night from Sunday to Thursday. Especially on Sundays, many users choose to check the list and buy something before going back to work;

2. Weather can also affect users’ purchases. More transactions are always made on rainy days.

Platform Advantages

1. New Zealand is located in the Southern Hemisphere, and its seasons are exactly opposite to those in the Northern Hemisphere, so Chinese sellers can sell off-season products to New Zealand.

2. Gap products are popular, especially brands not available in New Zealand.

3. Store decoration can be modified 12 times a year.

Store opening conditions

First of all, you must have relevant information about New Zealand or Australia to register. When filling out the registration form above, you can see that the address bar only has New Zealand and Australia.

Second, electronic products are not recommended for cross-border e-commerce merchants. Trade Me requires electronic merchants to be certified, but the actual situation is that the certification only recognizes local merchants in New Zealand, that is, only local merchants in New Zealand are allowed to do it. Therefore, Chinese merchants have to check whether the products they sell are qualified to be listed on Trade Me.

Third, Trade Me uses PayPal for payment. Payment is in New Zealand dollars, so merchants need to check the exchange rate in advance and prepare enough budget to convert it into local currency. PayPal payment method must also be opened in advance.

Fourth, the Trade Me platform does not have overseas warehouses, so you can choose domestic shipping.

Trademe entry qualifications

1. Have a business license

2. Have a public account

3. Have experience in cross-border e-commerce industry (need to provide Ebay, Amazon, AliExpress, wish and other store links for review)

Store opening instructions

The commission on the TradeMe platform is 7.95%. The platform's payment method is unified as Ping (a payment platform similar to Alipay), with a handling fee of 1.95%.

The payment methods are paynow and paypal, and the settlement period is the first Friday of each month to settle with the seller (once a month).

The Trademe platform stipulates that sellers must upload the order number within 48 hours, deliver the goods within 10 working days, and handle after-sales within 30 days. The product title description grammar must be accurate, simple, and easy to understand, and cannot exceed 48 characters.

Products can be uploaded via API or CSV form.
