Search Terms is a term used by Amazon to match customer searches and display highly relevant products to customers. It is often referred to as " Amazon keywords " in the industry.

12. There is no need for various conjunctions, such as "a", "an", "and", "by", "for", "of", "the", "with", etc.
13. Use the singular or plural; there is no need to use both the singular and the plural.
14. Do not use temporary statements such as "new product" or "sale".
15. Do not use subjective expressions such as "best", "cheap", and "amazing".
16. Please do not add insulting or offensive words.
17. No need to mix different languages. For example, if a buyer browses the Spanish version of amazon.com, a US ASIN with an English search term will be automatically translated into Spanish.

Optimization suggestions

1. Make good use of hyphens (-) to reduce unnecessary repetition of words. Adding hyphens to keywords can include all keyword combinations and individual words. For example, for a keyword like "anti-aging", valid words include "anti", "aging", "anti-aging", "anti aging", and "antiaging".

2. You don't need to worry about the singular or plural form or the capitalization of the word. As long as you type in one of the forms, the system search will automatically include the results of the singular and plural forms as well as the results of the uppercase and lowercase forms, so when filling in the keyword, just choose one of them.

3. Never use exclamation marks (!). If you use exclamation marks, the search term must have an exclamation mark, which means that the keyword with the exclamation mark must be exactly the same to be found. Do not use commas to separate different keywords, just use a space to separate them.

4. You can write two names of an item. Different countries, regions, and people have different names for the same product. For example, some people call mobile power banks power banks and travel chargers, and lamps are called lamps and light. These can all be written.

5. If the products you sell are suitable for holiday use or gifts, you should modify the keywords in advance, usually half a month or even a month before the holiday, and add holiday-related phrases to the keywords, such as Christmas, Halloween, Cyber ​​Friday, etc.

Development Context

Before 2017, you could enter 1,000 characters per keyword line, and a total of 5,000 characters in five lines.

On August 24, 2017, Amazon released new regulations, stipulating that the maximum index length of Search Term keywords on the Indian site (IN) is 200 characters, 500 characters on the Japanese site (JP), and 250 characters on other sites (except the Chinese site).

Note: The character limit refers to the total number of characters filled in five lines. If the number of characters exceeds the limit, it will be rejected. Spaces and punctuation marks are not counted.

In August 2018, the search term was changed from five lines to one column, and the word count for the US site was 250 characters.
