New Delhi: Walmart-owned Flipkart on Thursday said it has added three new distribution centres in Karnataka for the upcoming festive shopping season, a move that is expected to create more than 14,000 jobs.
Currently, Flipkart has nine supply chain facilities in Karnataka, including distribution and sorting centers, covering nearly 230,000 square feet and creating more than 26,000 jobs.
It is reported that the new distribution center will cover nearly 700,000 square feet, with a storage capacity of 15.6 million cubic feet, and will help more than 10,500 sellers. In addition, these new facilities will mainly serve sellers of large home appliances, furniture, mobile phones, clothing and electronic products.
Flipkart said the new distribution center will support thousands of sellers, small and medium-sized enterprises, and small farmers in the region, meet the growing demand for e-commerce business, create more jobs, and achieve faster delivery for consumers.
