With delayed resumption of work and salary cuts, how long can cross-border people survive under the epidemic?

With delayed resumption of work and salary cuts, how long can cross-border people survive under the epidemic?

As the epidemic continues to ferment, all walks of life have been greatly affected, among which the tourism industry, catering industry, and foreign trade industry are the first to bear the brunt. Previously, Shanghai, Guangdong and other places have postponed the resumption of work of enterprises to February 10, but the "turning point" of the new crown pneumonia epidemic has not yet appeared. Seeing that the resumption of work is imminent, cross-border people are really anxious...

Boss: The business can’t bear it anymore

Under the influence of this epidemic, many companies are struggling.

The delayed start of the supply chain means that goods cannot be delivered in time, international logistics cannot deliver goods in time, employees cannot return to work, remote work affects efficiency, the company's rent, water and electricity bills, employees' wages and social security fees, etc. have caused headaches for many bosses.

If we can’t start work anymore, the company will really not be able to bear it!

Previously, the chairman of Xibei Catering, a catering company, said in an interview that the epidemic has left more than 20,000 employees unemployed, and the current funds in the account can only last for three months!

And this is just a microcosm of many companies. Many cross-border bosses are also facing this problem. Seeing that provinces and cities are now increasingly strict with epidemic control, the time for companies to resume work may be delayed again!

As a province with a large population mobility, Guangdong Provincial People's Congress Representative Wang Hai suggested that Shenzhen extend the unified Spring Festival holiday for another week to February 16, and resume work on February 17, and suggested that the government introduce corresponding support policies for enterprises.

The city of Guangzhou requires all residential communities (villages) to implement closed management, and people arriving in Guangzhou must report on the same day!

The current situation is not optimistic, and it is uncertain when enterprises can fully resume normal work. Under this circumstance, provincial and municipal governments have issued relevant policies to support enterprises:

Zhejiang: Reduce and exempt taxes on small and micro enterprises and postpone taxes, and increase financial support in four aspects: factor costs, finance and taxation, and foreign trade and exports;

Shandong: Strengthen financial support and reduce tax burden;

Beijing: Delay the payment of social insurance premiums; moderately reduce or exempt rent for small and medium-sized tenants;

Shanghai: Implement unemployment insurance job retention refund policy and postpone adjustment of social security contribution base;

Qingdao: Postponement of tax payment and tax reduction and exemption for small and medium-sized enterprises.

As for the enterprise itself, it is also necessary to adjust the corporate strategy based on the cash flow on the books and calculate the various expenditure costs. It can negotiate with employees to reduce costs by adjusting salaries, taking leave, working remotely, etc.

Employees: layoffs, salary cuts

As employees, we also face survival issues.

As various places strictly control the epidemic, many places have closed villages and roads, and all transportation has been suspended, so employees can't go out even if they want to. In addition, many companies have adopted salary cuts and layoffs to reduce costs and protect themselves.

Some employees reported that they were unable to resume work on schedule due to road closures, so they asked their boss to work remotely from home, but were fired as a result;

Some employees also reported that because Guangzhou requires people returning to Guangzhou to self-isolate for 14 days, the company decided to stop work for the entire month of February and pay wages during the holiday according to Guangzhou's minimum wage standard of 1,895 yuan...

Thinking about the mortgage, car loan, and rent that are weighing on me, I am really trembling.

Speaking of rent, I remember the overwhelming messages forwarded on WeChat Moments some time ago asking landlords to waive or reduce rent...

However, I asked my friends and colleagues around me and found that no one paid less, not even a dime!

Impossible! It really hurts...

I hope that the epidemic will pass soon, and when spring comes, we will usher in another wave of cross-border e-commerce boom! Both enterprises and employees can survive this difficult period. Come on, cross-border people!
