New policy is coming! Chinese sellers are in trouble! Amazon just announced...

Amazon's policies are changed every 3 days and 5 days, and sellers are very calm about it! However, Amazon's US site has recently released a policy that has made sellers complain again: The world has suffered from Qin for a long time!

New policy hits, sellers are anxious

On July 8th local time, Amazon issued an announcement: Starting from September 1, 2020, the company name and address will be displayed on the "Seller Profile" page!

The specific contents are as follows:

Starting September 1, 2020, we will display the seller’s company name and address on the Amazon.com Seller Profile page. For individual sellers, we will display the individual name and address. This will be consistent with the Seller Profile page in Amazon’s European, Japanese, and Mexican stores.

Why did we make this change?

Over the years, we have developed a variety of ways for sellers to share more information about their company, including through features such as the Seller Profile page, the Store page for brand owners, and the Craftsman Profile page for Amazon Handmade. These features help buyers learn more about a seller’s company and the products they sell. We are making this change to provide a consistent baseline of information for sellers, helping buyers make informed shopping decisions.

Can I share more information besides my business name and address to help buyers?

Yes, you are welcome to add more company and product information that may be useful to buyers. However, please remember not to provide an email address to prevent spam and abuse. We require both buyers and sellers to communicate electronically using our Buyer-Seller Messaging Service system.

Displaying the company name and address on the "Seller Profile" page has both advantages and disadvantages for Chinese sellers, but the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages! What changes will Chinese sellers face after September 1st?

Sales may plummet

Currently, there are more than 8 million sellers on Amazon, of which 2.93 million are active sellers. According to data from e-commerce consulting firm MP, Chinese sellers account for about 41% of Amazon's US site . On the European site, Chinese sellers are even more active.

Among them, Chinese sellers occupy half of the Amazon Spain site, about 49%, followed by the French site, Italian site and the British site, with 44%, 43% and 38% respectively. The last one is the German site, accounting for about 30%.

Although Chinese sellers account for a large proportion, our reputation in Western countries is not good. According to a survey report by the Pew Research Center, about 66% of people have a negative view of China , of which 33% are very negative, 33% are somewhat negative, and 7% refuse to answer. 23% are somewhat positive, and only 3% are very positive.

Therefore, once the company name and address are displayed on the "Seller Profile" page, it is likely to affect the buyer's purchasing decision. Under the stereotype, consumers will not buy products from people they dislike. Even if they buy something from you, they will leave you a review, "Made in China" with a one-star rating.

On the contrary, sales of domestic American sellers will see a surge, after all, many Americans "want America to be great again"!

Some Chinese sellers have begun to boldly predict that my brother-in-law will issue the USA Verified Seller title to US sellers in the next step, further consolidating the interests of US sellers... This wave of magical operations made Chinese sellers mutter MMP three times in their mouths!

Can the trend of copycat sales be suppressed?

Although the new policy may affect the sales of Chinese sellers, some sellers have pointed out: If the company name and address are made public, can we directly arrange a fight offline if we find copycat sales?

It's a beautiful thought, but the reality is terrible! Although the new policy can combat follow-selling to a certain extent, the effect may not be satisfactory! Because most follow-selling accounts are purchased accounts, not real contact information. Refer to the current situation of European and Japanese sites, which can always display seller information, and follow-selling has never been feared.

The only ones who can be suppressed are some small sellers who use real information to follow sales, which is of no concern to the overall situation!

All in all, the new policy is not a good thing for Chinese sellers, but for service providers, there will be another wave of opportunities! It is predicted that after September 1, the price of Amazon China accounts will drop to a certain extent! However, the price of US domestic accounts will usher in a wave of skyrocketing prices! Many merchants have already begun planning plans to get rich in the second half of the year!
