Amazon releases new compliance requirements! Products will be removed from shelves after June

Recently, Amazon released a new compliance policy on the backend of its European site. Products that fail to complete compliance items within the deadline may be removed from the shelves!

The packaging law and electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) reviewed this time are both part of the EPR policy. The full name of the EPR policy is the extended producer responsibility policy, which requires sellers to take more responsibility for the products they sell. Currently, there are only two extended responsibilities applicable to the EPR policy. One is the packaging law, including primary packaging (commodity packaging) and secondary packaging (distribution packaging), and the other is electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) compliance.

These two compliance requirements require European sellers to complete Germany's EPR packaging compliance by June 30 and electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) compliance by December 31. Amazon will begin reviewing after the specified deadline, and products that have not completed compliance will be temporarily removed from the shelves pending compliance completion. Since the first appearance of the packaging law in 2019, it has gone through several rounds of improvement and strengthening. Even Amazon itself has set up an EPR service provider network to provide buyers with some third-party service providers who can provide this service. It can be said that EPR will be the next compliance policy that Amazon will focus on. Look at how strict VAT is now, and how strict EPR will be in the future.

Amazon's official promotion of service providers is the first step to regulate the industry, providing sellers with a way to deal with the new policy, and also the confidence that Amazon can enforce the policy. Therefore, the EPR compliance measures this time are tougher than before, and buyers on the European site should prepare as soon as possible.
