Scope of certification:

SIRIM certification is a voluntary certification. Only some products that are subject to compulsory certification control by other government departments need to obtain SIRIM certification: for example

l          MCMC Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission: Wireless Product Registration

l          CIDB Malaysia Industrial Development Board: glass, cement, steel bars, steel, aluminum products, sanitary ware and other products

l          BOMBA Malaysia Rescue Agency: Fire doors, portable fire extinguishers, fire hose reels, etc.

l          ST Malaysia Energy Bureau: electrical products, gas products, energy efficiency and other certification

Certification process:

l          The certificate holder is the factory or Malaysian importer

l          The certificate is valid for 5 years

l          After obtaining the certificate, an annual review is required to evaluate the consistency
