Best Buy optimizes supply chain automation and expands holiday delivery network

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, American retail giant Best Buy has optimized its supply chain through automation technology and new distribution centers to provide efficient logistics support for the holiday shopping season.

It is understood that in order to meet the peak of holiday shopping, Best Buy has launched a number of supply chain upgrades, including working with third-party delivery partners to improve inventory layout to speed up the preparation of curbside pickup orders, and expanding two-day, next-day and same-day delivery services for thousands of items. After arriving at the store, customers can track the status of curbside and locker pickup in real time through the lock screen of their smartphones. In addition, since August, large product orders have supported real-time delivery tracking based on artificial intelligence to improve logistics transparency.

In terms of distribution infrastructure, Best Buy recently opened its 20th distribution center in Lancaster, Texas, covering an area of 800,000 square feet. It is the second distribution center established in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The new center employs more than 80 employees and will expand the distribution coverage of goods through faster and more efficient logistics support.

To further improve warehouse operation efficiency, Best Buy has also deployed automated guided vehicles (AGVs) at its distribution center in Nichols, New York. Currently, about 20 automated forklifts handle nearly half of the incoming pallets. The application of AGVs has significantly improved warehouse productivity and safety. The advantages include operating in narrow aisles to increase storage capacity, centralizing complex tasks by reducing manual operations, and extending operating time to improve logistics processes. At the same time, the stable product handling method of AGVs effectively reduces the damage rate of goods and ensures order accuracy.
