Target to hire 100,000 more seasonal employees as holiday shopping season approaches

Target recently announced its holiday seasonal recruitment plan, which is expected to add about 100,000 seasonal in-store and supply chain employees with a starting salary range of $15 to $24 per hour. This move is designed to meet the upcoming holiday demand while maintaining its holiday recruitment goals in the past few years.

Target noted that existing employees will also have the opportunity to work overtime during this recruitment period, and about 45,000 of its 400,000 employees have participated in the on-demand overtime program, which allows them to choose overtime hours based on their personal schedules. These overtime requests will take priority over new employee recruitment.

To further enhance the customer experience, Target also announced that it will resume Target Circle Week from October 6 to 10, and it is expected that the supply of holiday merchandise will increase by 50% compared to last year, with thousands of items priced at $5 and $10.

In terms of recruitment, Target said that the management of each store and supply chain facility will make recruitment decisions in advance based on local needs, and interested job seekers can apply online starting September 25. In addition, Target is also recruiting warehouse operations positions in the supply chain field.

As the holidays approach, the retail industry is experiencing a wave of holiday hiring, with several retailers including Spirit Halloween, Joann, Bath & Body Works and Burlington recently announcing holiday hiring plans. Kohl's plans to hold a national hiring event from September 18 to September 19, while Macy's will hire on September 26.

In addition to hiring, Target also plans to launch a number of sales and promotions. First, it plans to resume daily specials during Circle Week (only one day of discounts), and to provide daily specials for Target Circle members starting November 1. In addition, the Bullseye Playground area has been added to its nearly 200 offline stores and its online store, offering Target-themed holiday gifts (such as giant plush toys of its mascot dog), and most products are priced below $25.
