Must read!! What are Amazon’s new regulations?

1. Expand the scope of return processing fees: Starting June 1, 2024, Amazon will expand the scope of return processing fees to cover high-return rate products in all categories except apparel and footwear. This means that Amazon will charge a return processing fee for each returned item that exceeds the product category return rate threshold. This measure is intended to compensate for the operating costs of returns and reduce waste by charging a return processing fee.

2. Return rate label: Products with high return rates may be labeled with a "high return rate" label, which will be displayed to consumers and provide a reference for their purchasing decisions. This label may have a negative impact on the sales of the product because consumers may avoid purchasing it due to concerns about the quality of the product.

3. Increase in storage-related fees: From April 1, 2024, the collection period of the storage usage fee surcharge will be shortened from the current 26 weeks to 22 weeks, and higher fees will be charged according to different levels. In addition, annual updates on items such as pre-processing service fees and storage defect service fees have also been released.

4. Higher requirements for sellers: Amazon clearly emphasizes that all products sold on the platform must meet the quality standards of relevant countries and regions, and it is strictly forbidden to sell counterfeit, inferior, infringing and other substandard products. At the same time, higher requirements are also put forward for sellers' after-sales service, including faster return and exchange processing, more complete after-sales service system, etc., to further enhance consumers' shopping experience.

5. Logistics and delivery optimization: Amazon will continue to increase its investment in logistics to improve the speed and efficiency of logistics and delivery. At the same time, it places higher requirements on sellers' delivery time and delivery efficiency to ensure that consumers can receive the products they want in a shorter time.

6. Promotional activity standards: Amazon encourages sellers to carry out a variety of promotional activities, but also requires sellers to comply with platform regulations during the activities and not to engage in false advertising, malicious competition, etc. In addition, the platform will also evaluate the effectiveness of promotional activities to ensure that they are fair and effective.

7. Seller credit evaluation system: Amazon will establish a more comprehensive seller credit evaluation system to comprehensively evaluate sellers’ business practices, after-sales services, logistics, and distribution. This will help maintain a fair and competitive market environment and enhance consumers’ shopping experience.
