As for some of the most popular payment apps among consumers, the Mexican favorite is still MercadoPago, which accounts for 36% of sales. However, other brands such as PayPal and KueskiPay also stand out in the list, accounting for 15% and 14% respectively. Easter is an important sales opportunity for Mexican online merchants. On this occasion, Latin American e-commerce platform Tiendanube released its second edition of its Mexican e-commerce research report, revealing some online shopping habits and data of Mexicans. The report shows that in 2022, the categories with the highest e-commerce sales in Mexico will be fashion (19%), health and beauty (15%), and finally home and gardening (6%). In terms of important e-commerce sales festivals, the report points out that BuenFin is the festival with the most merchants conducting big promotions, with 59.8% participating in 2022 and 40% of sellers participating in 2021. In addition to this period, Christmas is also an important sales node (58% of sellers participate), followed by the hot sale from May 23 to 31 (36.4%). The report also highlights that in Mexico, 62% of online shopping orders take place on mobile devices, surpassing computers, and the most popular payment methods include credit cards (34.6%), buy now, pay later models (8.1%), digital wallets (7.9%) and debit cards (3.5%). For consumers, social media is a key channel that influences shopping decisions. During 2022, social media channels accounted for 22% of orders converted, with Instagram being the preferred application for users, accounting for 62% of total social media conversions.
