Twitter Blue is back for $8 on Android, $11 on iOS

Twitter Blue is being relaunched to the public: Android users will pay $8 per month, while iOS users will have to pay $11 per month to get the service. Twitter Blue's new subscription features include profile verification and fewer ads.

On December 10, Twitter announced the relaunch of the blue tick on its Twitter profile: "We're relaunching Twitter Blue on Monday: Subscribe on the web for $8 a month to get exclusive features, giving users the blue tick."

Anyone who subscribes to the service will be able to skip half of the ads, their tweets will have priority and more visibility, they will be able to post longer videos in 1080p, edit their tweets and activate reader mode. In terms of profile verification, Twitter marks personal accounts in blue, corporate accounts in gold, and government accounts in gray.

The price difference is Musk's response to Apple's App Store's 30% commission on apps sold on it, which the world's richest man accused Apple of monopolistic behavior just weeks ago.

In early November, after Musk took over Twitter, he announced that he would charge for the blue check verification service. At that time, there were many voices against this charging behavior. After the $8 verification service was launched, some people with ulterior motives arbitrarily changed their information to impersonate others. Twitter suddenly became difficult to distinguish between true and false and fell into a mess. It also received many complaints from users. Twitter then announced that it would withdraw this service.

Now, in order to prevent fake issues, Twitter has developed a new protocol. Users who subscribe to TwitterBlue will lose their verification mark if they change their name and profile picture, unless Twitter re-verifies their identity to restore the blue mark.
