According to foreign media reports, on November 10, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of more than 320,000 Generac portable generators. The reason for the recall is that when moving the generator, the unlocked handle will trap the consumer's fingers on the generator frame, posing the risk of finger amputation and crushing. This recall involves two types of generators with different power ratings. The recall covers generators purchased by consumers between July 29, 2021 and November 3, 2022. The following is the specific information:
According to reports, these generators were sold on major shopping websites and offline stores, including Amazon, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe's Stores, Napa Auto Parts, etc. from June 2013 to June 2021, with prices ranging from US$790 to US$1,480. Approximately 321,160 units were sold in the United States and approximately 4,575 units were sold in Canada. Generac has received 37 reports of injuries, including 24 reports of finger amputations and 5 reports of crushed fingers. The CPSC is warning consumers not to purchase these faulty generators and reminds buyers not to use them or, if they have already purchased the product, to contact Generac for refund instructions.
