Walmart opens third-party marketplace to Canadian sellers

According to foreign media reports, Walmart recently announced that it would open its US third-party market platform to Canadian sellers. This move marks that the retail giant is promoting international sellers to join its third-party online market.

According to reports, Walmart will open its U.S. supply chain services and infrastructure to Canadian sellers, providing them with domestic U.S. delivery services as fast as 1 to 2 days.

Walmart will also open Walmart Logistics Service (WFS) to Canadian sellers. This is a fee-based program similar to Amazon FBA, which can provide sellers with storage, picking, packaging and transportation, return processing, and Walmart Connect retail media platform services. In addition, sellers who join WFS will also get tools provided by Walmart, which can help them optimize listings and increase sales.

In order to attract more Canadian companies to settle in, Walmart has recently reached a cooperation with payment technology company Payoneer to help sellers understand how to use simplified onboarding, simplified delivery, targeted promotions, comprehensive financial services and other support to quickly expand and develop their business in the United States and Canada. In addition, Walmart also intends to expand its product categories, with the goal of expanding from the current nearly 170 million products to more than 200 million.

Darren Carithers, senior vice president of international market development at Walmart, said that building an e-commerce market that is trusted by both customers and sellers has been Walmart's goal for many years. Walmart hopes that through its help, both new and old sellers can succeed in the US and Canadian markets. Through cooperation with Payoneer, Walmart can serve more customers, help consumers save money and live a better life.

Walmart plans to invite 40,000 sellers to join its third-party marketplace in 2022. In January, Walmart began inviting selected Indian sellers to apply to join its marketplace. In June, Amazon invited some British sellers. All sellers approved to join Walmart's third-party marketplace will receive professional team services and cross-border sales tools provided by Walmart.
