Walmart has formulated new promotional pricing rules! Helping sellers increase product exposure!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Walmart is formulating new promotional pricing rules for third-party market sellers to help them set promotional pricing reasonably, increase product exposure and traffic, and thereby increase sales.

Walmart said in the announcement that it is updating the requirements for strikethrough pricing and "price reduction" or "clearance" badges to enhance the promotional pricing experience on Walmart's website and fulfill its Everyday Low Prices (EDLP) promise to customers.

Starting next month, Walmart's promotional pricing rules will see the following new changes:

The "original price" will be determined by the product's quotation history or sales history, which is defined as follows:

  • The median price customers paid for the item on Walmart.com in the past 90 days (excluding limited-time offers or other promotional prices);
  • The median price that sellers offered for this item on Walmart.com at least 28 of the past 90 days (excluding limited-time offers or other promotional offers).

In addition, Walmart explained that the sale price submitted by the seller will need to be at least 10% lower than the original price in order to receive the strikethrough pricing and the "Market Drop" or "Clearance" logo. Furthermore, if the seller submits an everyday price that is lower than the "original price", the product will automatically receive the strikethrough pricing.

According to the report, strikethrough pricing and "price reduction" or "clearance" signs will help sellers attract shoppers' attention. Walmart also encourages sellers to use promotional pricing for best-selling items during its big sales or holiday shopping seasons.
