E-commerce sales accounted for 13.2% of total U.S. retail sales. The report shows that the fastest growing categories in e-commerce sales over the past two years are furniture, building materials and electronics, with growth of more than 200% since 2019. In addition, food and beverage e-commerce sales also achieved strong growth, increasing by 170%, accounting for 9.6% of total retail sales. However, the growth rate of the clothing category was lower than the industry level, at only 38.5%. The U.S. Department of Commerce said that at present, the U.S. retail industry has not yet completed its digital transformation and is still in the early stages of development.
