It is learned that according to the latest "US Social E-commerce Report" released by Influencer Marketing Factory, US social e-commerce is booming and consumers are paying more attention to mobile shopping and KOL recommendations.

The report pointed out that social shopping mostly occurs on mobile devices, and 82% of respondents said they discovered products on social media and purchased them directly on their phones. Social e-commerce will help brands increase their mobile conversion rates and reduce shopping cart abandonment rates.

Social media has provided a range of recommendations, convenience and payment options for consumers who spend a lot of time connected to their mobile devices. Social commerce is defined as the process of selling and purchasing products directly on social media.

Influencer Marketing Factory surveyed 1,000 U.S. consumers from December 9 to December 14, 2021, targeting users aged 16 to 54, focusing on the social shopping habits of Generation Z and Millennials.

40% of respondents said they prefer to shop online, 13% said they prefer to shop in-store, and 47% said they prefer a mix of both. 29% of respondents said they shop on social media once a week.

When it comes to social media shopping, 57% of consumers said they purchased something during a live shopping event, while 39% said they enjoyed discovering new products during live shopping events.

40% said they like taking advantage of discount offers from influencers, while 42% said they prefer to check out directly on a social media app rather than on a third-party website.

According to Insider Intelligence, Facebook is currently the best-performing social e-commerce platform in the United States, with 56.1 million buyers in 2021, while Instagram ranked second with 32.4 million.

According to market research firm eMarketer, the social commerce market in the United States grew to $80 million in 2020 and is expected to grow to $96 million this year.
