The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has recalled nearly 15,000 pounds of beef sticks due to the risk of E. coli infection. The product was sold at several Walmart, Kroger, WinCo Foods and Albertsons stores.
The product name of the recalled beef sticks is "Iowa Smokehouse Original Smoked Beef Sticks"; the company code on the packaging below the expiration date is 1633B; and the production time is from November 15 to November 17, 2021.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, E. coli was detected in raw ground beef samples that were sent to a laboratory for microbiological analysis. Patients infected with E. coli may experience symptoms such as dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps within 2 to 8 days.
So far, there have been no reports of adverse reactions to the recalled product. FSIS said consumers who have purchased the product should discard it immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
