It is learned that on December 17, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Procter & Gamble voluntarily recalled 32 aerosol dry shampoo and conditioner spray products of six brands including Aussie, Herbal Essences, Pantene and Waterless sold in the United States. The previously discontinued Hair Food and Old Spice brand aerosol dry shampoo products are also included in the recall. The recall was due to the detection of carcinogen benzene. According to the American Cancer Society, benzene is one of the 20 most used chemicals in the United States. It is a colorless chemical that evaporates when exposed to air and can cause cancer if exposed to it for a long time. Procter & Gamble said it has begun testing other spray conditioners after trace amounts of benzene were found in some spray conditioners. The vast majority of Procter & Gamble products, including liquid shampoo, liquid conditioner, mousse, hair spray, styling products, and treatment products, are not within the recall scope. Below are some pictures of the recalled products: P&G said it would provide compensation to customers who fill out a claim form and provide proof of purchase of products on its list.
