According to Convey byproject, the on-time delivery rate of major logistics carriers in the United States improved in October, up 2 percentage points overall from September. However, this is still lower than the peak of 83% in June and July this year.
FedEx's on-time performance improved by 5 percentage points from September to 72%, while UPS (83%) and the U.S. Postal Service (92%) both saw on-time performance decline from the previous month.
These logistics carriers are trying to recruit more seasonal employees to cope with the year-end peak season, but this is undoubtedly more difficult for the US market, which is currently facing a severe labor shortage. Due to the labor shortage, FedEx's ground network has low staffing levels, forcing the company to deliver more than 600,000 packages a day.
At the same time, due to congestion at US ports and other supply chain obstacles, it is expected that the on-time delivery rate of US logistics carriers will not improve in the short term.
