Suspected of human rights violations! Three major US retail giants remove Chinese surveillance products from their shelves!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, two Chinese surveillance technology brands, Lorex and Ezviz, have been removed from the shelves by several US retailers due to their suspected involvement in human rights violations in Xinjiang.

It is reported that Lorex is a subsidiary of Dahua Technology, and Ezviz is a surveillance technology brand under Hikvision. In 2019, the US government accused the two companies of participating in large-scale surveillance of ethnic groups in Xinjiang and blacklisted Dahua Technology and Hikvision.

Recently, US retail giants Home Depot, Best Buy and Lowe's have announced that they will remove all devices from Chinese surveillance brands Lorex and Ezviz. Home Depot also issued a statement saying that the company is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards and has immediately stopped selling Lorex products after noticing the controversy.

According to the US government, Dahua and Hikvision provide surveillance equipment to the Chinese government to monitor ethnic minorities. The US government accuses the Chinese government of repressing, detaining and monitoring Uighurs, Kazakhs and other members of Muslim minorities on a large scale, and of violating and trampling on human rights.

Until last week, Lorex's website listed Home Depot, Best Buy, Lowe's and others as authorized retail locations in the U.S. After its products were removed from the shelves, the company did not respond to comments, but its website has removed the authorization logos of several retail giants.
