According to research by consumer research firm GfK, in the past six months, with the increasing popularity of online shopping, DTC brands are becoming the mainstream model in the US e-commerce market. In the past year, the most popular D2C categories in the United States were clothing/fashion (30%) and skin care products (28%).

Joe Beier, executive vice president of GfK, said that the market has entered a cycle, and DTC brands are also building offline retail stores while becoming mainstream e-commerce brands, because they believe this is essential for their next growth. At the same time, traditional brands are transforming into DTC brands and building DTC platforms for their existing brands.

Research shows that six in 10 U.S. consumers (62%) have purchased a DTC brand product in the past six months. About nine in ten (88%) DTC shoppers say they are satisfied with the product they purchased, while only 10% are dissatisfied.

In addition, 70% of U.S. consumers have switched from traditional brands to DTC brands in at least one category. 40% of U.S. consumers will buy more DTC products and services after the epidemic, while only 13% said they would buy less.

When asked what attracted them to DTC brands, consumers most often cited convenience (48%), value for money (37%), higher quality (36%), and customization (31%).
