D2C wine market boom is coming! US wine D2C sales increased by 18%!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, the outbreak has stimulated the global wine producers to pay attention to direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales. The survey shows that 80% of consumers support D2C sales of wine. American wine producers' D2C sales in June reached US$223 million, an increase of 18% over the previous year.

Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's leading beer maker, reportedly quadrupled its sales revenue through D2C channels in its first quarter 2021 financial report. In addition, Heineken, the world's second-largest brewer, also doubled its revenue from its DTC platform Beerwulf in Europe.

The spirits industry is notoriously underpenetrated in the e-commerce market, but trade bodies are working to pave the way for a new era of DTCs in the industry. In addition, the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, the Craft Spirits Association of the United States, and the American Distilling Institute are teaming up to lobby the federal government to pass D2C shipping laws.

Diageo, the world's largest wine company, said that they have achieved good results on large e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Tmall and Drizly, and have launched nine new D2C platforms around the world. They hope that this field can grow rapidly and become an important part of future business development.
