What is ALDI? ALDI Review
ALDI is a German supermarket chain that mainly sells food .

1. Introduction

ALDI was originally a food retail store opened by the Albrecht brothers in a mining area outside Essen, Germany, in 1948. The store was reorganized in 1962, and the first food supermarket named ALDI was born in Dortmund. ALDI is derived from the first two letters of Albrecht and discount, meaning a cheap discount store run by the Albrecht family. To this day, ALDI is still owned by the Albrecht brothers Theo and Karl, who run ALDI's North Store in northern Germany and South Store in southern Germany respectively.

ALDI's official Chinese name is "奥乐齐". In 2019, ALDI opened its first two pilot stores in Shanghai, located in Jiangning Road, Jing'an District and Gumei Street, Minhang District.

With the opening of offline stores, the ALDI WeChat Mini Program Mall was officially launched, providing fast delivery services within three kilometers of the store, currently only covering the Yangtze River Delta region. ALDI opened two new pilot stores in Shanghai on October 13, 2019, located in Putuo District and Baoshan District, and the Xuhui store also opened in October. The three new pilot stores will continue to uphold ALDI's commitment to bring high-quality products and excellent services at great value to Chinese consumers, and help ALDI's long-term development in China.

ALDI has more than 10,000 stores in more than 10 countries around the world. After more than 100 years of development, it has become a retail brand enjoying a high reputation and recognition in the international market.

ALDI provides consumers with high-quality self-operated products at great prices, creating a better shopping experience for them.

Now, through ALDI’s two pilot stores, the ALDI WeChat mini-program mall and two Tmall stores, Chinese consumers can enjoy great value for money products every day.

2. Entrepreneurship History

Over the years, the northern stores have gradually expanded to Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, and the southern stores have entered the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Australia and the United States. 40 years later, Aldi has expanded rapidly in domestic and foreign markets, with more than 3,600 domestic chain stores in 16 states and more than 1,000 overseas chain stores, of which nearly 600 branches are opened in more than 20 states in the eastern United States alone. So far, Aldi's annual operating income exceeds 30 billion US dollars, making it the largest food chain retail company in Germany. In the global rich list published by Forbes, the Albrecht brothers ranked third with assets of 25.6 billion US dollars, and once again became the richest people in Germany.
