Basic Introduction

BookMyShow was founded in Mumbai in 2007. It is an online ticketing platform under the Indian entertainment company Bigtree Entertainment . It started as a movie ticketing website and later began to engage in ticketing services in multiple fields, including sports matches, live events, movies and dramas.

Currently, BookMyShow has covered 350 towns across India. It is also actively expanding internationally, expanding its business to Sri Lanka and Indonesia, and investing in companies such as Do-It-Yourself , Townscript , and Fantain .

Financing

In August 2012 , it received US $18 million in Series A financing from Accel Partners.

In 2014 , BookMyShow received $ 25 million in investment, led by SAIF Partners .

In 2016 , BookMyShow completed a US$ 81.59 million Series C round of financing led by Stripes Group . The lead investor in this round of financing was Stripes Group of the United States , and 18 original investors including Accel Partners , SAIF Partners , Network also participated in the investment.

In July 2018 , Indian online ticketing platform BookMyShow announced that it had received US$ 100 million in Series D financing led by TPG Growth , with participation from old shareholders such as Stripes Group , SAIF Partners, and Accel Partners .

Development History

In August 2007 , India launched India's first ticket aggregator - BookMyShow , which is now one of the largest ticketing portals in the country. In March 2010 , BookMyShow became the official ticketing partner of Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils .

In 2011 , BookMyShow became the exclusive ticketing partner for the Indian Grand Prix Formula One.

In 2012 , BookMyShow won the prestigious CNBC Young Turkey Award for “ Hottest Company of the Year”.

In 2013 , BigTree Entertainment acquired Chennai -based online ticketing company Ticket Green .

In 2014 , SAIF Partners invested $ 25 million i.e. Rs. 150 crore in BookMyShow valuing it at Rs. 1000 crore.

In 2015 , BigTree Entertainment acquired Eventifier, a Bengaluru-based social media analytics company .

In 2016 , BookMyShow acquired a majority stake in Chennai-based Fantain Sports Pvt . Ltd. BookMyShow was awarded the ' Best Omnichannel Customer Experience Brand ' at the OneDirect Quest Customer Experience ( QuestCX ) awards .

In January 2017 , BookMyShow acquired Hyderabad-based online ticketing platform MastiTickets .

In February 2017 , BookMyShow acquired a majority stake in Pune - based DIY event ticketing and registration platform Townscript .

In June 2017, BookMyShow launched Jukebox, an audio entertainment service that allows users to earn “music points” by booking movie and event tickets and then download music for free.

In July 2017 , BookMyShow acquired Burrp, India’s oldest food tech company .

In August 2017 , BookMyShow acquired Nfusion ’s audio entertainment product - Jukebox .

In August 2017, it acquired the on-demand music and video platform Nfusion in an all-cash transaction. The specific acquisition amount was not disclosed.
