Company Introduction

Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Nippon Express) is currently a private company. Before 1950, it was a state-owned company. The Land Transport Company, established in 1872, can be said to be the "old zero" of Nippon Express. At that time, the postal department had also been established. The state stipulated that letters and small items were operated by the postal department, and other individual operators engaged in cargo transportation must operate in partnership. It was against this background that Land Transport Company was established as a small group of individual transport operators specializing in land transportation. In 1875, Land Transport Company was renamed Neikoku Express Company, and in 1928 it was rebuilt as International Express Co., Ltd., and its business scope expanded to foreign countries. On October 1, 1937, Nippon Express Co., Ltd. was officially established. At that time, it was a state-owned company jointly funded by the government and private individuals. As the situation of World War II progressed, the Japanese government-developed comprehensive transportation and merged the transportation industry in major cities across the country into Nippon Express. In 1950, the Nippon Express Business Law was implemented, and Nippon Express began to move towards a new starting point as a private company.
