ShopLocal is a comparison shopping website with 30 major US retailers as partners, such as Target, Lowe's, CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens. Users can search for the price of the same product on major shopping websites and in local retail stores by region or city, thereby obtaining the lowest price and discount information in local stores. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA Founded in March 1999 Founder Brian Hand Website https://www.shoplocal.com/Historical DevelopmentShopLocal was originally known as SalesHound.com, LLC. SalesHound.com, LLC was incorporated in March 1999 and later changed its name to CrossMedia Services, Inc. on July 30, 2001. In 2004, TKG Holdings acquired CrossMedia Services, Inc. for $75 million. On July 8, 2008, Gannett purchased Tribune's 42.5% stake for $22.3 million and McClatchy's 15% stake for $7.9 million, making ShopLocal 100% owned by Gannett. Shoplocal is now part of TEGNA Digital and merged with PointRoll to create Cofactor Digital. In December 2016, Chicago-based digital media/ad tech agency Liquidus acquired CoFactor. |
